Pizza beer is not a misprint

"The greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza."
-- Dave Barry

Beer and pizza go together as naturally as, well, pizza and beer. That led a creative Illinois real estate broker to try combining the two tastes. And, he succeeded.

Tom Seefurth of Campton Hills, a Chicago suburb, has been a longtime home brewer. In his quest for the perfect pizza-flavored beer, he began adding tomatoes, oregano, garlic and basil to one batch. The result is something he calls Mamma Mia Pizza Beer.

Walter Payton's Roundhouse in nearby Aurora has agreed to serve the pizza beer as long as the supply lasts. No word on what happens when it's gone.

Mr. Dowd:

Sorry we didn’t meet earlier. Our family was invited to be on Bill Keeler’s show in Utica, NY, about three weeks ago where we demonstrated that this beer is the real thing (not to steal Coke’s old slogan).

The staff at Saranac was invited in to try it and we passed the taste test with flying colors. In addition, we pulled out a roaster chicken and injected it with a Pizza Beer with a few too many tomatoes & brought it to a local pizza joint where we discussed on video the pizza & pizza beer combo. Passed that test & took the chickens out of the oven and even pleased Mike the owner with pairing the injected Pizza Beer chicken with our East Indian Spiced Beer.

Mike said “I don’t like curry” HA! But Mike likes a beer with curry paired with Pizza Beer-infused chicken!

Anyway, if Saranac comes to an agreement we will be bathing in Pizza Beer in beautiful upstate New York!
